Anyone had any experience with the company and this particular upper? I'm not looking to buy it soon. But if someone's got a good deal on one LMK please. Thanks for any info. Sparsky |

I've had mine about four years. No problems to speak of except.. Make sure you have a GI (read- strong) hammer spring. I loaned it to a friend once who had a JP speed hammer and associated parts in a NM lower, and several FTF's occured. Only a light strike mark on the primer, no bang. Evidently it takes a good bit more energy to initiate a large pistol primer than a commercial .223. And the fact no one makes cheap FMJ to practice with. $1 per round for Speer or IMI sucks. I hate to waste a perfectly good Gold Dot for plinking. |
Geez... that's gotta be some sorta sin in the gun world holy bible. I think you need to visit a range this weekend. |
Ever look into reloading? I haven't worked out all the costs yet for 50AE. But if you don't value your time (like me) It's usually cheaper in the long run for accurate or special (tracers,AP, API, Etc) ammo. |
I'm pretty sure at most, the .50 AE is a straight walled case... probably .510 diameter. I have an empty at home I could mic... if I can find it... |
Yea Mat I looking into other calibers like the .458 socom and such. But I notice with most of those calibers it's almost twice the price of 50AE. Plus, I already bought some realoding dies in EE for 20 shipped. Edited to Add: In my loadin manual, says 50AE is .5290" at the neck, .5434" at the base, and .5150" at the rim. Max Case length is 1.2850", Max OAL 1.595" |

The 'feet' on the follower on my mags are fairly long. After loading the ninth round, it is approx. .050" too shallow to take another one. But after a few seconds on the grinder it will now accecpt ten. I do not mind reloading, but still hate to waste a good hollow point for casual shooting. Does anyone make a jacketed ball bullet ? Solid lead and gas ports do not mix in my world. |

Nice dude. I pulled up at a pistol lane at an indoor range and the guy next to me busted out his .50AE DE and blasted a couple mags. I had to step back because the blast echoed so much in there. I asked him if it was .44 Mag or .50AE... sho nuff, .50! I'd love to check out your setup if you get this workin. I saw an AR15 in .50AE in a magazine years ago. My upcoming project is going to be my 'tactical levergun'.... 16" lever action carbine in .357... supressed... |
A spacer is put inside the magazine and the follower is replaced. Shooting 223 is not possible in a converted mag. If you remove the spacer & put the original follower back in it should work w/ 223 once again. |
