| hello all, I'm looking to get a longer barrel for my taurus pt 92 as. I've been to a couple sites and I found one called triple break products. Has anyone had any experience with them? Good or bad? I don't want it compensated I just want it longer to meet some silly requirements to hunt. Thank you for any info. |

Pardon my ignorance, but is not your pistol a 9mm? Few, if any pistol hunters would use such unless the game was very small. Most pistol hunter/users opt for a much more powerful round in order to put down game reliably and in a sportsman-like manner. Perhaps I have mis-understood. |

tattoo, wisconsin went to an "any centerfire pistol with a 5-1/2" barrel for deer and bear a couple of years back. Now RAF and tattoo, what if I was planning on hunting coyotes? Rabbits? Squirrels? Marmots? Would that change your opinion? Probably not, eh? I didn't say anything about big game. The fact of the matter is though I am planning on using it on deer. I know people that have had success with it. If it's not for you don't sweat it. I wasn't asking about what caliber to use. I was asking about longer barrels. I know, I know, you men would never even think of being that unsportsmenlike. Well I'm sorry you feel like that, I'm still debating on buying a .357 but some would even shun that. You have to ask yourself, will it penetrate and will it expand? If you ask me, the answer is yes and it's not just theory at this point. You can argue with me all you want. OK. I think I'll be shooting anywhere from 75 to 150 yards. Just kidding!!!! |
Well, in the spirit of your response, I think I'd save a whole lot of money by improving my stalking skills, and braining the critters with a 10-oz ball peen hammer. No offense, but you remind me of a guy who asked directions, and argued with the local guy giving him help. |

raf, I didn't ask your dang opinion on what caliber to use for deer. I asked a gun question. A barrel question to be exact. I'm trying not to argue but you don't leave much room. If you don't have any information about my original post, then frankly, I'm not that interested in it. If that's what you believe it's fine for you. But I'm not you. Fair enough. I guess it's my fault, I should've never added the thing about hunting, then I wouldn't have got unsolicited advice about hunting that I didn't ask for. |
You are correct in your statement above. (I do sort of like the idea of you hunting bear with that 9mm though.) 5sub |
