I have always liked bullpup rifles.  Heck, I've even got one of those ugly bullpup Mossberg 500 shotguns - totally impractical but it looks so cool I just can't bring myself to part with it...

I also have a Marlin Camp Carbine converted to bullpup configuration (one of those stock/shell conversions) - it's fun to shoot, but again not very practical.

I traded off the last M17 I had & have regretted it ever since.  If they would quit coming out with new guns every month that I just HAVE to have, I would buy another & send it to KKF for "tweaking."  And I wouldn't mind building an AK bullpup, but I've heard very bad things about those conversion kits.

So far my only "shooting" experience with bullpups is my Ruger 10/22 with the Muzzlelite bullpup stock. So far I like it. I`d like to know why alot of people don`t like bullpups in general, but seem to love the Steyr AUG.

edited to add:
Not mine, just a generic pic.  Mine looks just like it but with a big, ugly muzzle brake on the end.  If I think about it I'll snap a picture of it this weekend.

My dad has mine (aug). I'd switch out my M17S for it but I had it leftie converted for him and he knows how to use it. The M17 won't support his leftie shooting.

Bullpups are nice concept for a standard rifle to be packaged in a carbine length.  but some drawback is the magazine changes are a tad bit slower and bit more difficult to perform especially under stress and the ejection port not suited for MOUT enviroment because the shooter can transition between strong and weak side for CQB. other then those issues the bullpup are fine rifles.

FN F2000 with its forward ejection tube seem to solve the ejection issue and the Tavor with its forward mounted magazine release(front of the mag well, the shooter just reach back some with the shooting hand and tap the release and magzine seem to fall free.) seem to solve some of the magazine change difficulties.

So why is it called a bullpup?  Is it because the magazine configuration is reminiscent of certain aspects of male animal anatomy?

I really miss my AUG but justify the price to replace it.

Great Chen on auto, just what I needed to see. LOL
