Custom S&W Performance Center 625

Chambered to shoot:

45 Long Colt (+P rated)
45 ACP
460 Rowland
45 Win Mag
(full moon clips for everything but 45 LC)

Custom 3" barrel
bead blasted finish
DAO with 8 lb trigger
Tritium insert front sight
Weigand Target rear sight
Cylinder milled for full-moon clip
2nd unfluted cylinder for 45 LC only

Original owner spent ~ $1000 over the cost of the gun to have the work done. Suffice to say I paid about what the gun alone sold for new.

I've only put 100 rounds through it so far (50 each 45 LC and 45 ACP). Very smooth and accurate. Probably will be my carry gun when hunting here in PA (I normally carry a 1911, but there are issues with having a semi-auto while hunting in this state).

How's the recoil?  I've shot one of the Scandium .357's and it felt like the saddle joint of my thumb was broken after shooting two rounds of .38sp.

On the carrying while hunting note... a gentleman that I served with wouldn't go bow hunting without a sidearm.  He mentioned something about the movie Deliverance.

edited to add: I like the lines on that sidearm.

This is a full size S&W N-Frame, not one of the lightweight snubbies. It weighs at least 41 ounces.

The scandium frame snubbie with the the titanium cylinder (Model 386PD) weighs only 17.5 ounces. I would think it very unpleasant to shoot and downright painful with 357 loads.

The lightwieght snubbies were a total pain, moon-clips? In .45 ACP?  I'm looking for a sidearm in that caliber for IDPA, I'm a better shot with a wheelgun, and for basic plinking with my semi P220.  Would you happen to know if S&W has the same in a 4- 5 inch bbl?

The standard 625 is currently cataloged in 4" and 5" models. I've seen quite a few of them used in IPSC and IDPA matches over the years.

Go to www.smith-wesson.com and look up 625 in the Product search section for details.

That is a beautiful revolver. If you ever want to part with it (cheap) keep me in mind. I would give it a loving home and excercise it regularly.

That is a beautiful revolver. If I could afford to custom order one, it would look exactly like that, except a 4" bbl. If you ever want to part with it (cheap) keep me in mind. I would give it a loving home and excercise it regularly.
