Anyone else own a S&W 52?  I've got a 52-2, had it for a couple of years now & love it beyond description.  >gg<

Anything you old timers (no offense) can tell me to watch out for down the road?

Any idea what the trigger poundage is set at? 2lbs? 1-1/2lbs?

I have a 52-1. It's a real nice pistol.  I drew up a print to make some aftermarket barrel weights, but haven't got around to cutting them yet.  I don't know what the trigger pull is set at, but it feels like about 20oz or so.

Bob, I have an "A" series 52-2 with barrel weights and it's a great shooter.  The action is so smooth it feels like velvet.  Trigger pull feels like yours and crisp too.  One day I'll put a gauge on it.  Remember to tighten the barrel nut only finger tight.  And the short extractor is no longer available ANYWHERE.  This may be heresy, but check www.smith-wessonforum.com for some M52 maniacs.

Used too have my own 52-2 and shot 52 and 52-1's in the service. Only advice I can give is don't break the rear sight, they are VERY expensive to replace $$$$$$$$

I would imagine **anything** on a 52 is expensive to replace!  >gg<

Wasn't the 52 the last major mfgr made target pistol in a semi? IIRC, the Sig P-210 was stopped before the 52 but I'm not sure.

I'll bet you're right about that.  When did Colt stop making their .38 wadcutter 1911?  One of those popped up for sale on this board last year and I almost bought it.  One day I'll be sorry I didn't.

I'll be getting a Blue Book today so I can answer these mind-bending questions.  >gg<

I still ads in Gun List for these Colts. As soon as I get my lottery win I'm sure I'll add them to my list.

How do they compare to the 52 as far as accuracy? Or to other Gold Cups?

Bob, I don't have a clue.  Never shot against one and don't know anybody who has one.  They certainly are not as common as Model 52's and there may be a reason for that.  I'd still like to have one in the inventory some day.

Bob, have you ever heard of anyone shooting .38 Super in a Model 52?  I've heard of that somewhere and called BS but don't really know for certain.

According to the Blue Book, only .38spl WC was the caliber made. So if .38 Super was used it was made that way with an aftermarket barrel. I wouldn't think that mags would be able to be swapped over either.

I would list that one as urban legend, IMO.
