I'm about to buy a 7.62 battle rifle, and I've narrowed my choices down to a Century G3 or frankenFAL. Right now I'm leaning heavily toward the G3 because a)I can get it in excellent condition for not much more than the 'good' condition frankenFAL costs at J&G. b) Its supposedly more reliable than the FAL and c) I don't want to screw around with a gas adjuster every time I switch ammo brands. The problm is, I can't seem to find any real info on the functional problems/quirks of the G3. I don't believe that any gun can be that perfect.

I had 1 of the stainless receiver Century G3s. It looked nice but it was a POS!!! Stay away. The FAL clones are better shooters and the mags are cheaper. After sending my G3 back to Century twice I traded it for 2 handguns. Just my .02 worth.

My 2 cents worth, walk away from CIA MBRs, they are a crap shoot at best.  Some work, some are downright dangerous.  Save your pennies and get a good FAL from DSA or have one professionally built, ~$800-$1600 for a quality FAL.  If you can find a nice HK or FMP receiver'd G3, be prepared for ~$900-$3000 price tags.  Stay away from Hesse receivers on anything.
