I have been thinking of building a good shooting bench for the last few years, but have never gotten around to it. I live out in the country and have right at 200 yards to shoot. For the last 9 years I have either used a homemade wooden bench or picnic table to do my sighting-in from. This spring I want to build a good concrete one that won't weather like wood and will be extremely solid. It seems like I have seen photos of concrete shooting benches on this site that were taken at various shooting ranges. Can anyone provide good photos of such so that I can get a good idea as to the design? Thanks!

I'll be at a range tommorrow with some nice benches.  Will try and get a pic or two to post.

Do you know how lucky you are to have such an area to shoot?

I am very thankful that I can shoot right in my own yard. I have NEVER been to a public range. Right behind my 200-yard mark is a wooded hillside (actually my 200-yard mark is slightly inside the woods). All my lead enters the ground, so it is an effective natural backstop. My neighbor owns the field that I shoot into, and I am thankful for his cooperation as well. He doesn't own any firearms, but is a "bigwig" at Crane Naval Weapons Support Center (NWSC Crane).
