| I've seen some painted AR stocks (painted & clear coated) around on the internet. Anyone have any idea how they hold up to use? I don't want it to wear off and look like junk. Is there a company that will paint them? I kinda like the desert camo look. I also like the ACE stock too....what to do....buy both? |

Lauer Weaponry who advertises on this site does a great job as we all saw at BRC last June. Also CamoTech at www.camotech.com has a lot of camo patterns. Lauer does a baked-on finish that seems to hold up to wear. There are a few different types of finish. The least durable is BowFlage but it's designed to be removeable. |

If you like desert camo , take a look at the new desert warrior from www.bearcoat.com they have had numerous gun mag covers with the Les Baer AR's in camo and the new desert looks even better in person. They finish plastic as well as aluminum to match. I saw a gunsite instructors and it was incredible.....and held up well thru multiple urban carbine courses..and they really roll in the dirt during their course. I also saw an FAL last week and it was exceptionally cool. |

I've used Brownell's Aluma-Hyde II to paint some beat-up AR stocks, and it seems to work well. It probably isn't the toughest finish around but it seems to do better than the hardware store stuff. Their OD green perfectly matches my CAV-15 OD lower. I will try to take some pics soon. If you buy it, be aware that (except for the matte) it takes about a week to fully harden and cure. |
