Got the rifle. I thought it had low miles on it but after taking it home and opening it up it looks like it has nearly no miles on it! After a good cleaning and doing the 15 minute trigger job I took it to the range today. Off the bags at 100yd it was hitting near the bull. Three minor sight adjustments and it was in the center. Then the rain started. It rained so hard all of the targets fell off the boards and most of the shooters left. The rain was blowing in under the firing line roof and I was ready to leave too. Then I started talking to another shooter and found out he is a fellow AR15.com dude. Then a co-worker showed up. So we shot the shit for about an hour waiting for the rain to stop. During a lull in the storm I took the rifle down to the 50yd line and did some off-hand plinking at bits of wood and clay target fragments. The rifles function was flawless and there was no blood drawn from brass. I was a little leary of shooting the rifle left handed since it has no brass deflector. But it turned out to not be a problem. I really like this rifle. It's a great plinker with the iron sites. |

My first AR was a Colt HBar 20in. flat top. With the JP trigger and 6x scope it is perfect for sniping crows and rabbits, and I have taken a few deer with it. But is is cumbersome for plinking and totin around the woods. The SP1 is much more suited for informal shooting. The only thing that needs to be changed is the rear sight aperture. Both the holes are way too small for my eyes. |

I got my SP-1 last spring. It is a M-4 type and used. I initially tried it out and got an FTE every 3-5 rounds. I later tried it with my Armalite carbine's bolt assembly. It worked flawlessly and so I eventually changed out the extractor and spring. The previous owner had never cleaned under the extractor and it had gotten a lot of buildup in there. But now it is working great, and maybe my favorite rifle. Well it's tied with my AR-10TLW anyway. |
