I've been tooling around with the idea of buying a post-ban AR, and my local gunshop had a black M15A4 Carbine that had a finish mistake on it.  They said they'd discount it for $800.  They're usually a little high, so I wanted to check what a reasonable price for them would be.  Any ideas?  Would I be better off buying a used one?

Thanks,

GT

Perhaps it an Eagle...I believe you can tell from the guarantee.  Does it have a Lifetime guarantee?  All Armalites do.  Eagles dont.

Usually if there is a cosmetic blemish, it is sold as an Eagle Arms rifle. Should be a little cheaper than an ArmaLite M15. Sounds like a good price, for what little I know.

How does it match up to this:

I bought my Eagle Arms M15A2 W/20" hbar about a month ago for $675. I think maybe you could find one a little bit cheaper unless of course it is a full fledged Armalite. Look at the lower reciever, Eagles will read "Eagle Arms by Armalite"

Thanks for all the comments.  Honestly, I don't think I saw "Eagle Arms" on it, but it did have a white stamp of an eagle in a square on the magazine well.  I didn't see the box, but otherwise it matches the description of the gun in that link.

Thanks,

The Box wont help...the all say Eagle and ArmaLite.

The best bet is the warantee.  ArmaLite's is lifetime.

One difference between the rifle in that link and the rifle was that it had the usual Armalite gas block such as the one here:

Look for a white eagle stamped on the front of the magazine well.

800 is good for a armalite.......factory has a serial# tracer...that will tell you what it is.....the white eagle on the front of the mag box will be on armalite rifles......if the rifle isn`t stamped eagle arms.....it isn`t a eagle.......armalite website is also very informative............

Thanks everybody for the advice.  I'll look for the serial number tracer.  Think I might be able to talk him down at all?

depends on what he paid for it......offer him 750 and see what he says.....i paid 730 for mine 3 years ago...it was dlr at the time....there`s a 200 dollar difference between dlr and msrp.....but....some are picked up at volume...or auction prices....and they will get a little cheaper.......NOW.....how bout` some LUNCH?.........by the way.....hit the industry topic above......that will bring the link to the factory.......you already know that.....

I bought my M15A2 from Precision Armory last year for $710. There's definitely some shopping around to be done.
