whats the diffence on that makes one a comp or a flash hider? just got to thinking and was wondering ie whats the diffrence between a fake a2 flashider and a real a2 flash hider? |

About 10 years. No, really. You can only put a real flash hider on a pre-ban rifle. Many comps are similar to flash suppressors, (AK-74 style, etc.) but only ATF approved post-ban muzzle brakes can be installed on post-ban rifles. Otherwise, you got yourself an assault rifle. |

According to the AW ban in 1994, AR-style rifles that feature a Bayonet lug, flash hider OR a collapsible stock are considered illegal assault weapons. Select-fire has nothing to do with it. Select-fire weapons (machine guns) are subject to the National Firearms Act (1925?) Compensators reduce recoil from the muzzle and flash hiders reduce the blast coming out of the muzzle for better combat concealment. You probably already knew this stuff, cyrax. I didn't see your post count until after I posted my first message. BTW, post #223 for me.

That's true of a flash HIDER, but a flash SUPPRESSOR, such as an A2 or a Phantom actually suppresses the flash to a great degree and makes it less visible to not only the shooter, but the enemy as well. |
I don't give an aeronautical intercourse what the fucking 1994 AW ban says. If it is not select fire, it is NOT an assault rifle. The 1994 bill was just the Clintonistas trying to demonize our rifles and confuse the sheeple as to what we really had. It seems to have worked for many, including you. Select fire has everything to do with it. |
BRAVO good Sir!THAT is what I am talkin about!!! |
