| Whats the price range for a new Garand? What companies sell one? Show me some pics so I know what to look for. I live in NW Ohio. |

I would honestly suggest that until the companies building them can fix some of the Major problems they have with the dimensions that you do not buy a Brand new Garand. I woudl suggest buying or building a rifle off of USGI and Danish parts. Heh, if I had known what a market there was for even pitted receivers I may not have let some of mine go so cheaply (4 M14 mags for one, a beretta minx for another) I beleive Beretta receivers arereasonably cheap, build a rifle off of one of those if you can find one. Or better yet, a CMP Garand is a good buy, one of the best truthfully good luck |

Get a REAL Garand from the US Govt. www.odcmp.com/Services/Rifles/m1garand.htm |

If you can get qualified and are not in a hurry, CMP is definitely the way to go. But the qualification process can be difficult in some areas (need to find someone running a CMP match). The wait is anywhere from 45 to 120 days right now, usually closer to the 120 days. But if you live in Ohio you could probably drive to their store at Camp Perry. Just call ahead to see what they have on hand. The Century Arms recievers get slammed but mine works just fine. The new Springfields seem to be a decent rig but like all of Springfield's stuff it's over priced. CMP starts at 400 for the Danish service grade and moves to to 500 to 525 for US service grade. Gunshow prices in these parts typically start in the mid 600 range and quickly escalate. |

www.m1garandrifle.com I have never seen one of these rifles. but am interested. anyone have any experience with the Fulton Armory Garands, they say they are built on a usgi receiver. |
I checked out that link. The problem with that place, and Fulton, is that when you compare them to the CMP, it's all overpriced. Really, the only place to go to get a reasonable Garand is the CMP. I know it's a hassle, but believe me, it's worth it. Jump through the hoops, and get a nice Danish M1 for half of what that M1garand.com place is charging. www.odcmp.com |
One has to realize tho, that Although Fulton and M1 Garandrifle are expensive, the products they sell are not quite the same as a CMP Garand. CMP is the best route to go through for a banger, fun shooter. But it will look worn, and will not usually look perfect. the toher two will sell you a rifle that looks better than they probably did when first issued :) a work of art. As I like to shoot the hell out of my weapons, and am poor to boot, I cannot afford or really need a fulton, yet. Buy for what you are using it for |

CMP all the way. I'm still waiting on mine, but that's OK cuz I know they'll be worth it. I've heard several bad things about the "new" Springfields (quality just isn't there). If you want t "looker" get a rack grade from the CMP and have Dean and "Dean's gun restorations" do it up or Orion7. If you look on the CSP board www.jouster.com. Those guys know all there is to know about Garands. They recommend Orion7 and Dean above anyone else. I'm sure Fulton puts out a good product, but I think they're a bit too pricey for what you get. Your in luck, CMP has a store in NW Ohio. It is located in Port Clinton. You can buy a Garand right there at the store once you meet the requirements. |
|
Go to odcmp.org to check out the site. Qualifications include: Approved Highpower Club Membership (Garand Collectors Assoc. for $25 annually qualifies) Military marksmanship qualification OR participation in CMP approved match over the past few years. Federal NICS check. Service Grade Springfields or Danish Service Grade Rebuilds are great starter guns. They ship Fed-Ex overnight direct to your front door. No middlemen to mess things up. |
