Gents,

Is it just me or do most of the gunshows suck?  They always have the same venders, snotty dealers, over priced sodas and hot dogs, cheap holster and bags and crappy prices on ammo and guns?

I do most of my business's from this website.  I deal with Pete, Gunsmoke, ammoman, cmmg, jt distributing just to name a few.

I hate all of the gunshow lies and pieced together frakenguns.  I'll stick to gunshops I know and dealers from this sight.

I don't know where you are, but in Missouri the gunshows are great....
if you are looking for a rare coin or a cheap holster or an old rusty pump action shotgun!

But yeah, its kind of sad to see the same people dragging the same tired old overpriced crap all over the state, year after year.  There was a gunshow this weekend ten minutes away from where I live today.  I watched the Chiefs game instead.  The Rams are on now.

I'm guessing you live in KC, because the STL, MO gunshows are terrible.

I've lived in KS, CO, and MO over the last five years, and the best shows were in Denver (close to 1000 tables), followed closely by the KC, MO shows (700 tables).  Anything I've been to in STL (IL and MO side) are very slim pickings (at most 300 tables).

Not only are the shows around here small, but it's very hard to find many 'black' rifles or parts for them.  Mostly just hunting guns and cheap knives.

You would think a big city like STL could at least muster up enough guns and dealers for ONE decent show a year...

BATMAN,

Whoops, I guess I didn't read your reply well enough to catch the sarcasm!

I agree with you 100%.  It's really funny when I see the same gun with the same dealer 5 years later (in a different state) and he's jacked the price up even more!

This is why prebans are so damn expensive, idiot dealers who just will not let that gun go without doubling their investment.  Same goes with preban mags and 'rare' parts, like HK parts.  Do you really think you are going to sell that MP5 mag for $150???

For the most part, gun shows in MI have been getting worse each year.  Once in a while I find a good ammo deal or find something I wasn't expecting.  Happens 1 out of 10 shows.  The shows in northern Indiana haven't been great, either.  The South Bend and Crown Point shows have been disappointing, especially when only half the table capacity is filled.  What makes gun shows great is when you actually see some competition between dealers.

The shows in Central Florida suck just as bad. Not only is it the same vendors but they have the same tables in the same location with the same shitty prices.

It all falls back on a lack of education. Since many people are not up to date with the latest prices, they think they are getting a deal when purchasing Wolf .223 for $75 per 500 rounds or SA ammo for $53 a battle pack.

Hawaii has always been a land of Monopolys.  Gun shows are the same.  We are too small to get the big names down so it is always dealers and military surplus guys who try to sell.  You have to ship every thing over to this rock in the middle of the pacific so all prices are jacked up around 10% minimum.  However if your educated on curent prices you can some times find a good deal.  You got to look hard, but it is worth it.

Forgot to add, I picked up a remington 1100 synthetic on the last show a week ago new for $450 and I still don't know how to take the thing apart...... The damn cocking lever for the action won't come out.....

Hmmm...you guys oughta see the Crossroads of the West gunshow here in Phoenix. Pretty huge, over 1000 tables. Yes, there are some of the same guys that have the same guns as last year, but I'm finding that they seem to finally want to deal. Mostly, I go there for accessories, which can be aquired for good prices. Ammo prices are fairly decent also. Hell, I'll admit it, I usually pay $5.00 to park and $8.00 to get in even if there's really NOT anything in particular I'm looking for. I'd rather burn calories walking around a gunshow than walking around a golf course.

The Crossroads show is the best one I have ever been to. I make the trip from Vegas every couple of months to go to it. I might be buying one of those NIB Colt preban's from One Eyed Jack's...they call out for me every time I see them....

Beef jerky...beany babies...and other worthless
pieces of over priced crap! And I had to pay money for this exhibition of shit!

I am finished with gun shows! BTW
Last gun show I attended...I was almost pick-pocketed. Think about it...great place to "bump" into someone and know they're carrying cash.

I haven't been in awhile since I think I can find better prices elsewhere. I've never even been tempted by any of the guns I have seen at at gunshow. I have found good deals on ammo several times and I do like to go once in awhile just because the manufacturers are sometimes there with firearms that I would not see in any of the local stores.

I may actually go to one this weekend. At least I can get come more ostrich jerky.

Heck in in NoVA we hardly even have a BAD Gun Show anymore.

I'm forced to hunt the Good hunt in the pawn shops.

Went to my first one last Sunday...

There were plenty of ARs, some AKs & SKSes, but it was mostly handguns, surplus dealers, and the like (i.e. the 'Pile-o-gun-parts' guys), plus 1 small Class III dealer with Macs, Uzis and a DD shotgun... There were actually more military-style rifles than hunting ones at that time...

I picked up:
1 used 1911 barrel ($17), which I intend to use when shooting cheap surplus (i.e. corrosive) ammo.
1 surplus AR sling ($3)
1 surplus AR cleaning kit ($14)
2 1911 mags ($5 ea)

It was OK, and quite interesting to see stuff that I'd only seen online before...

Thought it would be bigger, though...

The shows in the Northwest are not too bad.  Portland has a 1500 table show once a year and several 1000 table shows.  Most months there is a 1000 table show just outside of Seattle.  Spokane has a monthly 500 table show with a 1000 one a couple of times a year.  Numerous 200-300 table shows monthly.

Many tables will have black rife stuff.  Sometimes you can get good deals on magazines and other useful things.  It seems like you can usually get a half way decent deal of some sort.

One of the big advantages of Washington is that you can have private sales.  Quite often you can get your best deals from someone walking around with a gun they have to get rid of or else the wife will raise hell.

The show in Asheville, NC (LAND-O-SKY Gun Show) stinks! I quit going a while ago. Only stuff I bought was a cheap air rifle for shooting crows, used German binocs and a replacement mag for my Marlin Glenfield .22 rifle. Besides NO AR-15 STUFF!

Went to a show in Winston-Salem, NC and it was pretty good. We got some awesome Optolyth binocs and other deals.
