I have a Ruger Single-Six, and on the frame it says ".22 cal" but the cylinder says ".22 Magnum". Can I safety fire .22 magnum in this gun? And can I load the .22 Magnum cylinder with .22 LR or do I need a special .22 LR cylinder to do that??? GunLvr |

Yes, if the cylinder says .22 Magnum then .22 magnum is what it takes. Do not fire .22 LR in that cylinder as the case diameter on the Mag is larger than that of the LR. It can cause a case split (gas leakage). If you want to fire .22 LR you need to send the gun back to Ruger for them to fit a .22 LR Cylinder to it. I was quoted $60 for that operation about 5 years ago. I elected to sell the gun and get a Browning Buckmark, but now wish I'd kept it since it was exceedingly accurate and now I have two autoloading .22 pistols. Kent |
| What you have is a Ruger Single Six "Convertible". I believe all of them originally came with both the LR and WMR cylinders, but used examples often have one or the other cylinder missing. I purchased one a few years ago, and the Magnum cylinder was missing. I located a Magnum cylinder which I bought for $10, but didn't bother to send it back to have it fitted. However, it doesn't seem to mind. It shoots great with either cylinder. That WMR is really LOUD out of a 5.5" barrel. |

supposed to come with 2 cylinders 1 for 22mag 1 for 22longrifle dont shoot Long rifle out of 22mag cylinder there is a shoulder in the cylinder for 22mag. you can probly get a properly timed cylinder from ruger to replace the one your missing but you might have to send the gun in. www.ruger-firearms.com |

I have two older three screw single sixes. They are great guns. I believe the super single sixes and the convertable come with an extra .22 mag cylinder. My question...Can I use a new .22 mag cylinder in my old model or do I have to send it back to the factory to be fitted??????? |
