I am looking to purchase a compact 9mm.  I now own a Ruger P85 but I am looking for a 9mm that is a little smaller and a little lighter.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm in the process of "putting the bugedtary outlay" in front of the CFO (my girlfriend) right now for a Sig P239 (.40S&W) but they make it in 9mm also. Take a look at it if you get a chance.

Kahr K9 excellent choice sound little pistol . I've never had a jam or any malfunction with mine. also I find it to have a very comforatble grip not too small for the hand and not to big as to impede concelibility...A++++

holy moley, I just posted almost the same question in a thread entitled: i therefore must conceal.
In it, lots of our friends discuss their favorite pics.  I bought the taurus pt111 and love it, but many do not.  take a look at that thread a couple days back and you might find what you need!  good luck

Kahr P9. Small, but not too small, good capacity, excellent concealability, light (polymer frame), and best of all mine is accurate!!

That would be my first choice in the 9mm, but of course I carry a G27 because I prefer the .40 myself.

I keep hearing good things about the Kel-tec P11.  Anyone hear any different or have a bad experience?

I have tried the Kel-tec and it is a small pistol but not as comfortable as the Glock or the Kahr in my opinion. I didn't like the feel of trigger on it either.

How about a Makrov?they were designed from the ground up as a concealed carry gun, Reliable, accurate, power-wise the 9mm Mak is between a .380 and a 9mm, reloadable brass can be found as well as hollow point bullets, Price-wise one can usually get one for $200.00 or less in excellent condition, only problems I've ever had with mine were mag related,(weak mag spring)and quickly solved by replacing the spring with a 10% stronger spring from Wolfe (I also got a 19#recoil spring for it from them while I was at it)other than that no problems, it feeds, fires, ejects, every time. totally reliable.

I personally like the MK9. I love mine! Compact, accurate and extremely concealable. I've got it compared to..

1. 9mm Argentenian Hi Power
2. 9x18 Bulgarian Makarov
3. Kahr Mk9

Here is another view.

No, that would be a hard chromed P7M8.

Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions.  Has anyone heard of a Baby Eagle by Magnum Research.  There are quite a number of these for auction on Gunbroker.com.  Price is very reasonable, starting at $319, I've never heard of them before.

I believe the Baby Eagle is made by Israeli Military Industries see link below to some guy's fan page ( I think) about Israeli commandos

Ah but what do true Israeli Super Ninja Commandoes use-GLOCKS!
www.isayeret.com/weapons/handguns/glock/glock17.htm

CDNN has had Jericho 9mm compacts, which are the exact same gun, for $ 279 for quite some time. You will have to download the catalog to look at their guns.

Glock 26....hard to beat!

Greetings,

I think I had originally told Pompey to go with a Glock - specifically, a Glock 19.  Well, much to my chagrin - I've changed my mind on the recommendation.

I'm purchasing another Glock in a few days - a 26.  Having weighed the pro's and con's of this little gun - here's where I made my decision:

1) Reliability: I'm convinced that the Glock 26 will "go bang" every time I pull the trigger.  Number 1 priority.

2) Weight: that's really the bottom line for most people.  As I'll carry this in a pocket holster (either Null or Kramer), weight is a crucial factor.

3) Size: Small enough for a front pocket on a pair of khaki slacks, or a nice fit in the hidden holster pocket on my combat vest.  Though it's a little thicker than a Kahr, it's not overly so.

4) Price:  Used for around $400-425, new from $475 and up.

Bottom line: regardless of the many recommendations here, go and and try out as many of these as possible, see how they shoot for you AND carry on you.
