I was thinking about painting my AR in a black & white ghost grass .. Sorry I am a old duck hunter and boat builder  and love marsh grass patterns... How do you like painting or do you regret it and would you consider it again??

While I have seen painted rifles I thought looked good, I can't get myself to do it outside a war zone.

I like my rifles looking new.

No problem at all painting my gear. Flat dark earth colors don't just blend in out in the desert. There are plenty of tan grassy fields here in the U.S.

I paint all of mine eventually. Usually more times that I can count on each. The good thing is it can be easily stripped if you decide you want to go back to factory.

When I got one of my "grail" guns assembled and looked at it, I couldnt think of painting it. 2 weeks later I was cutting up a corn broom and using bristles as a pattern. Laid down first coat, then second, third, 4th, 5th.... flip and redo.... Look at the rifle now and I would have done it 2 weeks sooner to be honest. I guess it kind of depends on the pattern and the weapon though.

If you're really fixed on the camo pattern then you could most likely find someone local that hydro dips firearms with any camo you want.

I paint my guns because I don't like solid black and to give it character. I'm thinking about repainting my 308 like a leopard

I've painted all my long guns that don't wooden stocks. No regrets.
Go for it OP. Hydrodip in one of those duck hunting patterns wouldn't be bad either.

My first attempt at Multicam, but it is the third I have painted.  If you do Rustoleum or Krylon, if you don't like it you can take it off really easy, and start over.  I definitely learned a few things that I will apply next time!!!
