[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Kimber Custom II engraving

I have a Kimber custom II model with the matte black finish and walnut grips. I want to give it to my dad for his 60th bday. I want to get his initials engraved on the slide. My question is, is there a way to color the engraving back to the matte black without getting the whole slide refinished? Thanks in advance.

Going to be tough to match the color back. Although, I suspect it would look nice if the initials were subtly a different color, tastefully highlighting them.
Very cool gift, btw.
