Want to get my Gen 3 19 frame done in a flat dark earth? What coating service should I seek out? Cerakote or hydro-dip? Would I need someone I can trust to completely dissemble the lower/frame? Also, I have done some stippling to the frame. Will that have a factor in determining what coating I use?

I would go cerakote for durability.

Cerakote is the way to go.

Unless you want cheap.

Hydrodipping isn't for solid colors.
You can't "dip" FDE.

If you just want FDE go with Cerakote.

Ok, Cerakote. Got it. But why can't you hydro dip solid colors? Isn't it a film or sheet? What would stop someone from using a solid color?

just curious

The films are all patterns. The entire motivation of the process is to easily and consistently be able to apply complex pasterns to complex shapes.

Dipping is only to apply the pattern.
The part is still painted and then dipped then clear coated.

So if you really wanted to have a single color dip, you would need to paint the part FDE, dip it through clear PVA film, rinse it all completely off leaving the original FDE painted finish, then clear coat.
Or you could paint the part in any color, dip through a solid colored FDE film (although I don't think any such animal exists) then rinse, then clear.

Either way completely negates the dipping process entirely.

If someone is trying to sell you a single colored dip, they are taking you for a ride.
