I recently received a new AR15 that has a few scuffs from either rough factory handling or bumping against other parts in bins.  I know it's just a tool, but I'd prefer to scuff and scratch it myself.  I've considered having it cerakoted graphite black to give it both a clean slate and a durable finish.  I only shoot a couple hundred rounds a year in a few outings, and I tend to take care of my firearms.  How well should cerakote hold up to normal handling over several years?  What does normal wear with cerakote look like?  How has your rifle's cerakote held up?  My only concern is years later having shiny or worn through areas which show that I obviously had the rifle coated in something other than the factory finish.  I guess I just keep picturing what happens to rattle can paint jobs after years of use.  Any input is appreciated.

I have an AK with cerakote on it.  My friend did it, and it has held up nicely.

I would try this in GD, and ask for pictures.  Other than the people saying possum, I think you would get a pretty good chunk of people with their experiences.

YMMV.
