| Hey there does anyone know if we can speed up the duracoat process by baking a normal duracoat application? |

i would be cautious to say what Duracoat is. found this interesting on another site though quote_ " My boss is an engineer by education and a Combat Engineer by trade. A great guy that likes to talk about guns, metalurgy and related topics at any time. He use to be the paint specalist and the fuel and lubricants specialist, for the military and now runs our section.
Duracoat is made by Dupont, depending on who you ask, it's either Polane or Imron. Check what DuPont has to say about heating it. I got my boss to look at the MSDS sheets for Duracoat and Prolane T and his ref material and there is a differnce between Prolane T and Duracoat Prolate T thanks again everyone for your comments and contributions end quote" |

It is known that Duracoat is re branded auto paint. by who? By just about everyone in the firearms refinishing business. It's not some big secret. uhhh really???? Duracoat isint paint. some say it is similar to Polane so be it. if the mix is different its not the same then. its tougher than krylon and easy to touch up unlike other coatings that need to be stripped and blasted again thats why i like using it. if i want to pay for a serious coating i only use Birdsongs ULTRA 'T' finish.that is one serious finish. |

Duracoat IS NOT a repurposed auto paint, and just like the rest of SW's Polane line it is not for auto's but rather industrial equipment, you will NOT find any automotive paint or coating with the same mix ratio or precise formulation. It is based off of the Sherwin Williams(and not Dupont as mentioned above) Polane. There are a half dozen different publically sold Polane formulations and at least 8 more that are custom formulated for outside companies. |
