I am cerakoating my 1911-22 slide.. (This is my wife's 1911-22lr) Getting ready to bake it. My 2 -1/2 year old asks me what I am doing.. I told him I am painting gun parts, he tells me he wants to help..

I gave him a slide that was painted about an hour ago and tell him to hold the rod on which it is hanging with both hands.

Turn around, get the oven on.... He complains to me that his hands are sticky. So I did not think nothing of it (thinking he got paint from the rod) and take the slide from him and put it in the oven.

Wash his hands, give him a hug, tell him how much of a help he was yada yada.

15 minutes later I check on the slide and guess what... I see little paw prints on it. Oh no.. (He grabbed it when I turned around to start the oven!)

Now I got a dillema, do I stop the oven, let the slide cool, and wet send it and start the process all over, or, do I go on? This is his mothers gun afterall..

So what do you think? Should I refinish the slide again or leave his little hand print on it...................................................

Its like those hand prints you have your kids do when you pour concrete in your backyard. Keep it, she will think it is adorable.
