I know a couple guys who have there own shop and I want to get a few guns coated for pretty much nothing. They said the standard coating will withstand up to 400 degrees.

1. I want to coat my AR receivers my question is, will a 400 degree rating be ok for the receivers? My range does not allow rapid fire :( ,but I still have no idea how hot they will get with a shot every few seconds. My main concern is the upper.

2. Same concern with the slide of my pistol.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

Powder coating is very thick and when it goes through the ovens to heat the parts for curing, it hardens really well.

I would not consider powder coating a lower only because it will be hell in tight fit areas and pin holes.

Look into norrell moly resin, gun kote or cerakote. May fit your needs better.

This is not a good idea for firearms.  Look into Cerakote, Duracoat, KG, and Moly-resin.
