For those of you have refinished your rifle with a spray painted finish, did you build something to hang the parts from while you painted? I've been trying to come up with a simple and cheap setup, but I haven't thought of anything so far.

I used PVC built a stand and put eyelets in it with wire and fishing swivels on it so they would turn freely

Flat and satin finishes dry fast. So as long as you don't try to do it outside on a windy day you should have a nice finish. as far as hanging parts. a undone wire coat hanger should do the trick. Don't forget to wipe everything down with denatured alcohol, and you can use a blowdryer on low heat to speed drying time.

Built a PVC booth frame - covered it with plastic painters drop cloths using duct tape. I used a square fan with a furnace flter taped to the suction side to blow exaust out. But still use a resperator!
Works like a professional spray booth and you can make it any size you need from bench top to walk in. Really keeps the wife happy 'cause there is no Over Spray all over the garage - makes for a super quality paint job too !!!
Don't glue the PVC and you can take it down and store for future projects.

I like the concept - especially being able to take it apart for storage. I'm sure you would need larger diameter pipes for larger sized (walk in) enclosures since the plastic pipe tends to sag.

Did you use the clear plastic to allow light in or would the overspray soon make that a moot point?

Yep - just those inexpensive clear palstic drop cloths - use 'em once - throw them away because over spray does start to diminish light.
I use 1-1/4 inch PVC for the frame on my walk-in and 3/4 inch for my bench top - also get some of those disposable painter suits so the wife doesn't go POSTAL on you when you get your clothes spotted or covered with overspray dust head to toe - it gets real nasty if you are using DuraCoat -
