I just built my first sbr ar and now I want to duracoat it.  My question is:  Will the Duracoat effect my engraving?  Will the layers of duracoat fill the engraving?  Will the engraving still be legible?

thanks

I have never used Duracoat, but I have used Molyresin and Ive got to think they are a like and very thin. Maybe someone with Duracoat exp will chime in.

Duracoat shouldn't fill in your engravings.  It goes on very thin.

I've Duracoated about a dozen rifles.  It does go on thin if applied as per the instructions.  I have no problem with my engraving getting filled in.

Saw an item tonight finished in Duracoat ceramic.  Goes on a lot thicker than standard Dura.  Engraving is still visible.  Is it to the depth required by the ATF?  I don't know.  I'd say standard Dura is safe though.

Light scratches will show thru Dura Coat.  Make sure you do your prep work.
