How well does krylon hold up to heat? If I put it on my barrel, what are the chances of burning or peeling from prolonged (not rapid fire) shooting.

It'll be fine. Not that much heat. (when you start talking full auto, then maybe)

I've got Krylon on my barrel and routinely run it til you can light cigarettes off it.
Paint hasn't flaked or chipped at all. I'm beginning to believe that it just bakes it on.

At the most, it'll just change color a bit.

So how would duracoat hold up? I know that the makers of duracoat also make a bake on alternative for high heat spots (the barrel) but is that necessary? Would duracoat do the job fine?

I have the engine block paint for my AK.  No issues with rapid fire 3 full mags.  The hand guard got really warm but the paint was fine.
