I Just Duracoated a gun and used the DuraPhos pre treatment. I kinda liked the look of it any one know how it would hold up as a finish?

OK .... I know its a pain but wait the 4 weeks. There have been mixed reviews of Duracoat. Ususally it has to do with how well it is applied. My first attempt to duracoat some FAL magazines was a dismal failure not because the duracoat didn't work but more likely how I applied it. I have recently bought a airbrush and compressor and am giving it another shot and I have to say my results are much better. I am working on my FAL right now. I think I am 90 percent done so I will post some pics when I am finished with it. Some say that it doesnt hold up and then you get a reply that it is going strong for 3 years or something like that for them.
OK I just went on the Lauer web site and it states the Duraphos is not to be used as a final finish. But I am sure you can find a Duracoat color close to the color of the duraphos when it dries. Also take your time.... prep....prep...prep...... Also resist the urge to go over it and over it.... spray it and leave it alone for a good hour until the finish completely flashes. I have a couple blems on my finish but I am leaving them there as a reminder of what not to do. It gives the FAL more character. |

) I will give it a touch up and should be GTG. I started worring about the frame to slide fit so I put it together early. The gun was tight before and is a little tighter now
