I recently snagged the rra version of a one piece scope mount (similar to armalites) and I am mounting it on my ar-10. It happens to have "ROCK RIVER ARMS" in fairly large obnoxious white lettering on the side. Does anyone know if or how or what will remove it without screwing up the black finish?

not much you can do.  If it is painted on (doubtful) you could try lacquer thinner, acetone, etc...  These will not effect the black anodizing.  you could try using abrasives like orange erasers to try and rub it out.  But the only sure way to get a clean finish is to coat over it.

the easiest way would be to mask tightly around the letters and just spray paint over it using a name brand spraypaint (such as krylon).  For a more permanent coating, check out KG gunkote that comes in a spray can from Brownell's.
