Painted up an AR.  Wanna go back to black.  I used 4-5 coats of paint and about 3 of clearcoat.  All Krylon.

A friend of mine has a sand blast cabinet and told me I could use it to strip the gun.

I'm pretty sure I'll strip more than just the paint.  But I'm not about to sit down with a toothbrush and a gallon of acetone and try to get the paint out of all the nooks and crannies.

So if I sand blast an AR, how badly will I ruin the finish?  I can always Duracoat it afterwards, but I'm worried that some of the finish and parts might unevenly pit, such as the A2 stock.  Will Duracoat fill in these uneventies, or will more finishing work be required?

Thanks.

If it was me I would blast it with walnut shells , dont use sand you will be taking away more than just paint.

+1, you'll go to bare metal, fast, with sand or aluminum oxide blast media.
