Duracoat is probably going to be your best option.

Thermal cure finishes are a scary thought when it comes to putting your scope in the oven.  I used the KG aircure but had a very difficult time getting it to stick.  I had the process in a thread about a year ago but I'm sure it is archived by now.  Basically, I had to put somewhere around 20 "dusting" coats on it.  Between coats I took a dry paper towel and wiped the scope to remove any product that wasn't sticking good.  Eventually, I got the color I was looking for and then finished it with krylon to break it up.

KG FDE aircure...

Krylon added...

It actually matches better than it shows in the first pics although the KG FDE is slightly darker than the Norrell's Tan...

what about the knobs and lenses? it looks like you simply left your lens caps on. dosn't it make things sticky and get into the cracks?

The BC caps were removed and sprayed seperately.  I simply taped over the eye piece and objective.

The turrent knobs and markings were sprayed in place.  After each coat, I took a q-tip soaked in MEK and removed the KG from the markings.  IIRC on the last two coats I did not remove the KG and thus the slightly subdued markings.

The coats that you spray should never be thick enough to get sticky and soak into the cracks.

.........and as always, DEGREASE really good, especially around the power adjustment ring and anywhere there are threads (2 piece tube for instance).  I had problems early on because I didnt degrease in those areas really good.  If you are going with a permanent paint like duracoat it wont hurt to lightly sand the scope with 200 grit paper to make sure the paint gets a good bite.

brownells has alumihyde 2.  it is recommended for scopes and things that don't need to go into an oven.
