i just bought an arsenal slr95 , and i've been reading that the finish is a black paint , that is prone to chipping .

what would be a suitable refinishing product?

also, would i need to strip the original finish, would the original finish jeoprodize the durability of the new one?

any info would be greatly appreciated.

I would find out what kind of paint was used first.  If it is something good (Duracoat,Norrels, gunkote) you could probably paint over it.  If it is a rattle can job, you could easily strip it and start over.  If they say it chips easily, it is probably a Krylon or Rustoleum or similar rattle can paint.  If you want a more permanent paint Duracoat would be a good one to use or check out Dragonfly's AK paint jobs on the last page of the picture thread for some ideas for using gunkote.

Also keep in mind that any coating is only as strong as it's weakest layer.  So a super hard and durable coating that is perfectly bonded to a surface that will flake off, will flake off.  Removal of the exisitng coating may be in order.
