I haven't used duracote yet but was thinking about trying it out on my latest pistol build. My question is will duracoat stick to a hard chrome finish? I was going to parkerize then paint it but was thinking hard chrome should be more durable than parkerizing and since I hate shiny guns the duracote would solve that pimp gun look.

Hard Chrome is a hard slick surface, not exactly what I would recommend for applying any coating over. Most thermal coatings are not porous enough to allow another coating to stick good to it. Even when using CeraKote ambient on top of the thermal I lightly blast to give it something to bite on.

IMO park would be a much better surface to put DuraCoat on top of.

enforcer22 is exactly right.  A parkerized surface is the ideal and preferred surface for applying DuraCoat to.  The porous surface of a parkerized finish actually drinks up the DuraCoat like a sponge, resulting in a more permanent bond.

Thanks guys. I didn't think it would work well. I was just hoping to get the durability of hard chrome with out the shine.
