How about a new sticky with the pros/cons of the available do it yourself finishes? i.e.: GunKote, DuraCoat, Norrell's, & Krylon. |
Only thing I can think of that might be a "con" for Norrell's is that it is a thermal cure...you must have a good sized oven and an understanding wife. |
|
Something that would also be helpful would be a "HOW TO" Including blasting supplies and settings as well airbrush supplies and settings. I know we are all busy people and it would take some time, but If anyone would be into it I know it would be very appreciated. |
Norrells AR15 Refinishing Guide Link There isn't any blasting to do on an AR15 that is in semi-decent shape. Airbrush settings are best learned by spraying water on paper or cardboard so you can see the spray pattern. Start out low at roughly 25psi and go from there. Each airbrush will be a little different, but the nice thing is that even the super cheap models give a good finish for coating weapons. |
We've done the pros and cons of each several times, so it may be worth a search through this section. If needed, we can certainly do it again. |
