So I am spraying Duacoat and use a North brand Half mask. Which filter(s) should I be using?
Anybody a Paint Repirator Pro?
Thanks in advance

I used Charcoal filters when I painted cars. Seemed to work fine.

If you're in a well ventilated area, it shouldn't be an issue. But if you're in a confined space I'd get the respirator (I think mine was like $15 at NAPA)

Unfortunately the hardner in the Duracoat system more than likely contains polyisocynates.... which cant be fitered by charcoal filters.  The Iso's are what gives he paint it's hardness.   Unfortunately they also cause brain damage.....lol....  I learned a lot from a 3 day school at PPG years back.   Like Lacquer thinner can supposedly be found in your urine less than an hour after you soak your hands in it....

Isocyanates cannot be safely used with filters.  You need a supplied air system.  A recent thread here on arfcom discussed the permanent lung damage that is caused by this kind of chemical.

Or else buy a product that is more suited to home use.

Neither have, that I know of, Polyiso's because they are thermally cured.  Your charcoal mask will work perfect.  Or if you're in a hurry like I am sometimes, just lift up our shirt over your face a little....lol...  Just kidding on that last part...

Moose, do you have the ability to do the spraying outdoors, or out in a garage where there is plenty of ventilation?

If you do than you should be more than OK.  Almost anytime you are dealing with a PolyUrethane, you are dealing with Polyisocyanates.  so you don't need a space suit and an O2 supply.  If you read the MSDS sheet for any of the at home finishes, it reads like a recipe for pain.  Take common sense precautions and you will be fine.

Always remember, Good vetilation is the best thing when dealing with any spray-on finish.

I have one of the fans that goes in the attic to ventilate an entire house.  I use that in the garage, but I still stay towards the front, and have both front and rear doors open.
