| Looking to buy a PVS-14 GEN III shortly, and I am wondering what to look for on the spec sheet when I pick one up. What are key specs, ranges or data to look at to know i am getting a high quality device? |
| SNR, Signal to noise ratio over 25 is a good tube. Over 30 is super good. All tubes have some kind of defects ("blems") in the image, some have almost non-visible black spots, some larger ones. They are normal except if they are large or rather large and in the center. |

Quoted: Is it new or used? Quoted: Quoted: Thanks for the feedback, may get to use it tomorrow. Is it new or used? My local scope dealer has a couple of new PVS-14's in stock and I am sure they are top quality, just wanted to know what to look for on the spec sheets. They are ITT makes. |

If it's a new factory unit and ITT then I'm sure your tube will be very high quality and probably autogated, unless it is new old stock. Besides that all I would personally check is to see if you can live with the defects on the tube, and make sure it's warranteed. I lucked out with my used unit/ITT OMNI IV tube, yours will be even higher quality being it's new. |
