Does anyone know if the IR Patrol with have automatic calibration similar to what is on the FLIR Scout series?  Or, is it manual like the Mark II scopes?

IR Defense has their own section under the Industry area, they recently joined up with ARFCOM - I can't think of a better place to get the answer than from the horses mouth...

On the ir patrol brochure there is a screen shot image that has (push to calibrate) on the bottom right corner of the menu. So, my guess you will have to manually calibrate.

On the model I played with at SHOT (M300W), NUC was a manual action.

Do you guys see this as a good or bad feature?  The PS32 I own has automatic NUC.  It is very convenient.  Is there an advantage to making this manual?

When weapon mounted, you can control when the picture cuts out.  That way it doesn't calobrate as you're attempting a shot.  I like the user selectable models that let you set it to manual or automatic as you can choose the style that works best for your situation.  Head mounted or hand held, it seems like automatic is more convenient.

The production IR Patrol will stay manual as well which is important for weapon mounting aspects.

All models?   Even the ones that aren't weapon mountable?

Its not that big of an issue to have to manually calibrate even for a handheld.

On weapon scopes its important that they do NOT manually calibrate.

Sure you didn't mean NOT AUTOMATICALLY calibrate?  Wouldn't want it to lock up on you at an less than opportune time.
