Who runs one and how do you like it?

I just bought one from the EE and based on reviews it seems to be well liked.

It's big and heavy, but the IR Lum kicks out some serious steam down range!    Yes their is a visible signature down range from the emitter which happens with all IR LED systems.  Some more than others.

so have the battery drainage issues been fixed?

I've owned one and it had no battery drain issues.  A cool tip to eliminate down range signature is to buy an extra blackout cap for the illuminator and drill it out to accept a 30mm 850nm IR filter.  I forget which hole saw bit I used but it was a common size and you get the idea, little bit of JBweld on the threads to hold secure.  Knocks the illumination down to about 25% of what It was BUT it makes for a stealth operation.  Still good amount of IR light downrange

(comparable to the Wilcox raptar lite's .7w laser illu which I now own.  fairly low output but works enough for me, and I love the laser emitter)

I'm currently using one on my Block 2-ish clone.
I like it. It is a bit heavy though.

Hmmm...A long time ago and we only saw the DBAL-I2's at the onset of the program a few years ago. Maybe I'm mistaken.

Not to terribly concerned with full stealth. This will be used for a hog hunting rig and won't be turned on the entire time.

DBAL-D2 works like a charm, and the green laser works great during daylight too!

No battery drain issues for me, great setup but as others have said it is a tad on the heavy side. Would be perfect on a precision hog rifle. The IR illuminator is incredible.

Love my D2! It's a little big, but the illuminator is insane.

Good to hear. I am thinking about rocking it on my SBR. If I don't like it I will throw it on the LaRue.
