NV newbie here and  had a question about a set of NVG's I ordered.  Just want to know if I should cancel the order.  After searching and reading it seems the brand isn't highly thought of on the hive.  The unit us an armasight nyx-7 bravo gen 3, I paid $1650.  Is this way to much? Should I save for a nicer unit?

Main use will be predator hunting.

It's hard to beat Armasight for the price. Mine is as Spark Core, gen1 ($400), and it works well, and I even have it mounted on my gun. No complaints really about the quality.

Not sure how good the Bravo Gen3 units are or what kind of tube they have; but you probably could've built a US made PVS-14 with a really good used US made Gen3 tube for that much...

It'll work fine, but the NYX is a non-US PVS-7 knock-off. The housing is likely made in Russia or Europe, and the tube may or may not be US-made by ITT. Their "Bravo" nomenclature signifies that it is a lesser-spec tube, but will probably operate just fine. Armasight is generally -- and for good reason -- thought of as a peddler of lower-end gear, though both Armasight and ATN do make some higher-end stuff that performs well, but they're no bargain when they do.

What you got for the price you paid isn't great, but it's not bad either. I'd just keep it and be happy with it. If you want something "genuine" (i.e. a PVS-7) you can get a very high performance used unit on the EE or FleaBay for around the same price. If I $1600 were my budget that is the way I would go, but in your situation I wouldn't necessarily be compelled to return it or worry too much about it.

At the $1650 price point I too would be looking for a good used PVS-14 on EE or ebay, who knows you might get lucky and get one in the $1,200+ range.

I would return it and buy a used pvs-14 off-the EE. Or just cancel the order if you still can.

I cancelled after reading more into.  I figure I can save some more and get the real deal.. Thank you for your opinions.

Any idea what tnvc's "xmas14" discount was on a pvs14?

I believe it was $260 off the Gen 3 Omni VIII
