Can a peq 2a be disassembled?  A buddy left alkaline batteries in his and they leaked.  Cleaned corrosion out and still doesn't work.  I can't find any screws and it appears the end is glued on.  Are these things meant to be thrown away?  Thought I may try a heat gun to see if the glue will release before the plastic melts.   Any ideas?

The battery thing happened to a friend of mine. He is really anal and cleaned every square millimeter on the inside of the battery housing, but the unit was draining batteries within days. I found him new battery caps and after he installed them he did not report having any further issues with the batteries draining.

I'm thinking scrub  the cap with vinegar to clean and scrub thoroughly a baking soda solution to neutralize any acids and if its an end cap corrosion issue it may be fixed.
