I remember seeing a thread a while back about modifying butler creek caps for a focus ring. Does anyone have a link, I can't seem to find it.

any pinhole cover will give you near focus when you put it on. if that's what you're looking for, copy the hole in the pinhole lens cap.

The pinhole might be too dark at night without illumination. You can drill a 1/4" hole into the center of the BC cap and use it as a makeshift RFR.

Works great! (Mine is 5/8")

Good question! I'll have to sift through my boxes of parts to find them. I don't have much need for close-in focus so I stopped using them.

I used a hot 556 casing and it works decent.

Just start with a small 1/8" hole and enlarge it until you are satisfied. The smaller the hole, the wider DOV. It's the same principle as in photography. The drawback is the loss of light and you will need more illumination.
