I bought a new PVS-14 less than a year ago.  I've mainly been using it for fooling around the property, plinking targets of opportunity like the steel plates I set up outside.  I've been noticing what I think is a massive increase in scintillation.  I know that you do get some increase on dark nights, but I'm getting this stuff all the time, sometimes it's so much that I can barely see across the yard.  I can turn down the gain to make it manageable but then it's so low that I hardly see anything at all, if I turn it all the way up forget it, it's just snow.  It also seems like the resolution of the tube is decreasing.  There are areas I used to be able to see in the distance that I can't see anymore- this may be the result of me trying to decrease the "snow" by turning down the gain.  I've not dropped the unit, it's been stored with the battery out and it's head mounted.  I've also not left it on inside or around any sources of bright light that I'm aware of.  Is what I'm describing even possible?  Any ideas on what I can check before I call up the manufacturer and send it in to them to have a look?  I've tried new batteries, cleaning the lenses etc.  Any help would be appreciated as the thing isn't even fun to use anymore.

Only thing I know that could cause that would be a power supply going tits up. I would let your dealer have a peek to make sure all is well. If what you are describing is accurate the PSU is failing (need a new tube).

Possibly something in the battery housing not letting full voltage through. You need to have someone run some tests to nail down the problem. Should be easy to find the issue.

Thanks, I'll see if I can get them on the horn and get it taken care of.
