Local guy wants $650 for a gen3 11a. I've never owned any night vision but was planning on a pvs-14. What do you guys think for the price?
Can this be Helmet and weapon mounted? How does it compare to the 14? Is there a way I can verify its gen 3? |

$650 is cheap for any Gen2/Gen3. I'd be more worried about "is it working?" If so, then even if it has damage, that's not a bad price. Helmet mounted? probably, but you'll need to fashion up something by hand most likely. If it's Gen3, it's performance should be comparable to a '14 as long as the tube is in good condition and is Omni IV or newer. David

if this is the ad, that i think it is, the picture of the label is not clear - you can't id the model number. the second issue is that the images have the green tint that is associated with gen 2 scopes - look thru the forums images for samples or look at the tacked night vison comparison thread for sample gen 2 images. the resolution isn't that high, or it may just appear that way because the image isn't focused, but, it's probably okay for most things you might want to try to get a better image of the label to confirm it is a IIa, and not a gen 2 model II. i am not familiar with this unit, but, from appearances, there isn't any weapon or helmet mounts for it, so if you want to helmet mount it, you would have to fab your own, as mentioned. if you want to provide the link for others to look at, you can probably get more opinions, i didn't release the link to the one i think it is, because you were interested in it. whether you do get it or not, could you post the url for others to take a look at that unit and the images latter? |
