Not a great first impression. I literally cannot get the battery cap off to install the battery. Had to open a service ticket with Wilcox already.

I don't get it - it shouldn't be this difficult to get the cap off. |

Borrowed a Streamlight TLR-VIR II from a friend to try out on my lightweight build.
Did a hasty zero to converge with RDS from my back porch to the neighbor's barn (about 30 yds). The Unity mount positions the T2 high enough that the body of the light is not occluding any field of view in this placement. The windage and elevation adjustments have marks and reasonable tension, but no tactile or audible clicks. They do change where the laser is aligned, which is better than the feedback I've read about some similar products from other manufacturers. The vis and IR illuminators are both a little anemic compared to more expensive offerings, but it does give some capability for very little weight. I'm going to run this indoors in the dark out to 25 yds this weekend to see how useable it is. Attached File |

Streamlight TLR-VIR II on a Midwest Industries 90 degree offset mount. This may be one of the few times being a southpaw has turned out to be advantageous.

Not sure if this is the best place for this question…
If using a LPVO in a 1.5” mount does a atpial mounted on the top rail create any issues? |

Not sure on the dimensions of the atpial, but it would be mounted at the end of the rail (~13”)… The FOV blockage is what worries me. I would likely leave LPVO on max magnification and use 12 o’clock mounted MRDS. |

View Quote You'll definitely see it at 1x, and with a 1.5 mount, will certainly not be out of the way, but at full power, you wont see it at all and will not have any FOV issues, or at least I dont with a similar set up |

I have a young family so these are a couple of my budget setups.
PSA CHF 14.7” with a VIR-2 Attached File Tippmann M4 .22 with a Viridian IR that I got on sale for $98 and a $14 IR illuminator I got off Amazon. They have both been suprisingly good. Attached File I also have a Streamlight TLR-2 Eyesafe that I use as a floating unit between my AK and other guns. I also have a Somogear that has been a bit of a turd. On top of the port not working and the illuminator being basically like another laser, the gun it was mounted to fell over and split the case making it unmountable. I sealed the crack with epoxy and just use it as a handheld unit. Wish I had just bought another TLR-VIR-2 instead. |

Playing with this configuration. If I like it I’ll find a better way to run the cables.

BLUF: probably doing this wrong. Could not find a better place to put it.
14.5" gun with ancient 1-5x Leopold scope is the only one in my current stable with a full-length top rail. Family member loaned me the PVS-30 for T&E. FOV was extremely narrow. Challenging to distinguish targets at 40 yds without supplemental illumination on a moonless night. Perhaps a scope with a larger objective lens would offer better performance? ETA: Put it in front of a friend's 4-16x44 scope last night. Works amazingly well. Easy PID at 200 yds (longest line of sight available at our local range) with no supplemental illumination. Got my Steiner DBAL-D2 from Optics Planet today. Found a spare rail section in my reloading room for the upper left single slot. It seems like it was put the just for illuminator and flash lights. Happy day Got my full FOV back as it was on top rail and blocked the bottom 1/3 of the Aimpoint PRO.
