Looking at the FLIR First Mate MS 224.  The only difference I can tell is the color of the housing and the First Mate's "Marine Red" vs. the PS/ TS's red.  For hunting, would the Marine red option be bad?  Any otehr pros / cons of the FLIR Marine series ?

Why not the TS Scout series? It's green and black.

Can get the Marine for $300 less than the TS/ PS.

Sounds like a color discount.

I'm fairly sure that the marine series is much the same as the TS Scout series. They're both waterproof and and have the same features. Same size and weight, and accessories are the same too. Just the color difference.

The marine red is different than instant alert. The marine red the whole screen is red to aid with your natural night vision while boating. I like the instant alert feature alot I like the lower price on the marine its a hard call

THank you terry1.  I'd looked at them a while back and thought that the Marine red was different, btu couldn't find much on this time around.  To me, I think the instant alert would be worth the extra $.  I mean, I'd be getting it for hunting, and from thermal reviewers on here, the insta alert is the cat's ass for hunting.

Yep the instant alert is my favorite mode I run in it 80% of the time on my PS-32. Some conditions it's just to much and everything reds out so I have to go to white hot at those times. My understanding and a picture of the marine red I saw is its basicly white hot with a red tint to the image. I think that would be cool also but not maybe not as cool as instant alert for hunting.
