i posted similar topic in optics forum, but I suspect this is sort of a riding the fence topic that doesn't fit in that forum.

Obviously the ones we used while in service, aimpoint, eotech, etc.  But what about some of the newer ones like Insight MRDS?

What are you asking about exactly?

May I suggest that you check out the weapons-mounted optics thread and the helment mount set ups and then ask a more specific question.

I had an aimpoint with NV settings, but prefer the eotech under NV use, seems to me that there is less light-loss through the eotech,  but that may have just been my older aimpoint.

A lot of people, myself included, believe you are better off with none of the above, and instead get an infared laser. That way you can keep the night vision on your head wherer it is convenient.

It also keeps you from having to mount your red dot in an awkward too far forward spot.

This drives the nail home.
Better to have NOD's on your head than weapon mounted.
Better freedom to move and look around plus your not pointing your weapon at things you have no intent on killing.

I have an IR laser.  I check zero with the aimpoint and use them together.

and my nod is head mounted.
