| Just a reminder to get those nite vision scopes out for August. We have meteor showers in August every year, and this year its suppose to be at its peak August 11-12. Heres a link if you want to read up on it. |

Quoted: Thanks for the heads up....the kids always get a kick out of it.....if they'll wake up... With NV, you don't have to wait until after midnight... You'll see a lot of activity later in the evening as well. The sort of activity that you can't see without NODs. That's one of the nice things - the NODs let kids actually see stuff at a reasonable time. Regards

+1 I like to walk out into the horse pasture and just lay down in the grass and stare up at the stars, may hook up a 2nd PVS-14 to a video recorder and leave it on for a couple of hours... This is the same thing I do I would love to see the video if you do it. |

Vic I was up in the Norcal forest last week and saw three satellites in one night, one of which was visible to the naked eye. |

There's lots of passes for the ISS and the latest Progress ship this week, check them out for your area: NASA realtime sighting. Definitely don't need NODs for the ISS, but I did see a meteor when waiting for it to show up on Sunday night.

OMG
I was just out using the helmet mounted PVS-14 to scope out my new TNVC IR Torch Pro and DBAL-I2 IR Laser looking west when a HUGE meteorite streaked across the sky from North to South leaving a trail at least 50 miles long. This thing looked like a Saturn V rocket going sideways!
Just freakin' awesome!!! I saw many more minor meteors but this thing was the real thing. Check it out, they are coming down strong now.... |

Many years ago I saw a part of a russian space craft re-enter. Driving on a rural texas highway, i had time to pull over and stop and finish watching it go over the horizon. Found out later what it was. Very spectactular. Quoted:

Add insult to injury, now we have T-storms coming in almost every night blocking further look-ups! When does it stop!
