It seems that most folks use a monocular over their non-dominant eye. I have a hard time getting used to this and find it much easier to use the monocle over my dominant eye. What are pros/cons of using the monocle with either eye?

I prefer mine over non-dominate as I think I react better to vision from that eye than the other.

I use mine over my dominant eye simply because it feels more natural.  I also would like to know if there are any serious negatives to doing it this way.

Dominate feels better at the moment, however I been shooting with the non dom eye for a long time.

dominate eye for me just seems more natural plus I can still aim/line up my Eotech really well

I use non dominant. I started using over the dominant, but after switching the other way, I find it much easier to walk and keep my balance using the non-dominant. I also like keeping my dominant eye night adjusted incase I need to fiddle with something on the rifle, jump a fence, pick briars off me etc. The eye you use with the NVD is not going to see well without the NVD on, especially if you keep it turned all the way up all the time, because your eye won't adjust to the nighttime. and in a pinch I like the ability to use my REAL eyes. Using the non-dominant eye also lets you get a somewhat closer to normal rifle position before the NVD bumps into the gun.

ETA I'm using lasers, not a red dot.

Terry-  Are you using a helmet mount+NV compatible optic (on the rifle)?  If so, do you find it awkward to shoot like that?

I have a Pt helmet and a Ops core style helmet using Rhino and INVG mounts with several PVS-14's, Micro mono's, and mini-14. I have Eotech's and Eolads (eotech built in IR laser also) on my rifles. I find it real easy to aim my rifle normally with the head mounted PVS-14 using 1X lens and eotech. For longer range I attach the my 2.5 or 3X afocal and then its to much trouble to line everything up so I go to a IR laser and forget the eotech.

I use non-dominant.  While it felt slightly awkward at first, in time it feels like a much more natural solution as it appears to throw off my natural balance less.

I have had mono-vision lasix.  My dominant eye is tuned for distant vision and the non-dominant for reading.  I switch the helmet rig back and forth depending on what I am doing.

For walking / stalking, driving the go-cart (don't knock it till you try it ), ranch truck, and star gazing, I wear it over by non-dominant (reading) eye. I am much more comfortable moving around, since what ever I see with the non-aided eye is sharp and there is a little depth perception if there are stars, shadows, and the like..  Downside, I cannot see my gun, sight,  phone, or the climbing gear to get in/out of a tree stand.  It is also clumsy to use the Eotech

If I am hunting from a stand, I wear it over my dominant (distant) eye.  This allows me to see to tinker with my gun, phone, harness, or whatever. I am also much more comfortable using the Eotech, which I feel is more accurate than the LaserMax.  Downside is that, no mater what visible light sources or shadows there are, have have absolutely no hint of depth perception.
