| Is the cejay VIP beacon brighter than the Pegasus AA? I'm wanting something bright and durable. I like the fact you can program the Pegasus, but with the videos I've seen online of both models it's hard to tell how bright they are and how they compare. I found a comparison study done by a Florida LE group(I think). The Pegasus wasn't one of the units compared. |

While I don't know of the particular test you are talking about, I have some experience with these. Here's some data to consider:
- they both are running on 3 volts. Two AA's on the Pegasus and one CR123 on the VIP - Pegasus is utilizing three LED's (not sure of size). VIP is running 3 IR on the Gov model and two IR on the NSW (10mm). - Pegasus offers IR only. VIP gives you 2 Vis Green on Gov and 3 Vis Green on NSW. If the programming has you hooked, get the Pegasus. If not, the VIP gives you a whole lot more flexibility because it works in the Vis and IR spectrums. Hope that helps. |
| My intended use would be marking the kids(when out in the boonies), campsites, ATV, downed game when retrieving after dark. I'd also like to have one to have available when I'm out in the middle of nowhere as a signal device if needed. I'm not suck on the programmable feature. Having visible spectrum might be beneficial. |
| MS-2k is the best all round IR/white light strobe for the cost of each unit, toughness, battery life, & so on. That's mostly from a price prospective - Used surplus to new units can be had at great value - lose it & replace it. Other makes are mostly for Uncle Sam to foot the outrageous bill on for our troops who need high tech strobes in their line on work... |

Gotta love a place that understands IR marking your kids! Wait.....doesn't everyone?...... I just got a Phoenix Jr to try out just for this purpose. The missus had an epiphany when she realized we could locate our kids in the dark without having obtrusive visible spectrum lights. It's not much bulkier than the 9V battery itself, a great thing for small kids. I'll be getting some more beacons to outfit all kids & the dog for night camping trips. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
