| Starting to compile data to make my first NV purchase. From what I've been reading (and a lot of reading!) I should purchase two pieces instead of trying to do it all with one. Will buy a monocular for viewing and a scope for hunting (150-200yds max shooting) varments in SD and Hogs in TX. Will be shooting a suppressed 6.8 or 300 Blackout. Budget is roughly 5k, could go up a bit if rocommended. Just joined the forum and would like to say "Hi" to everyone. Thanks in advance. |

Within your budget and range requirements, I would seriously look at the M845 along with the ITT Night Enforcer PVS-14. The M845 cannot be beat for the best bang for the buck in regards to resolution and clarity for a Gen 2 SHIP system. The Night Enforcer from ITT is a complete factory built unit and comes with a 5 year tube warranty that is the best warranty in the business. We have ARFCOM specials on the Night Enforcer models, so please give us a call if we can be of assistance. Thank you. Vic |

Quoted: I was jutst trolling on the 6.8 SPC Forum and got an idea from a post, what do you think about using a helmet mounted PVS 14 along with a weapon mounted IR lazer? That is optimal for short-range if you only have one NOD. But for longer range work, a dedicated scope may be more practical. What sort of ranges are you thinking of? Regards David

Best way to do it if you don't need long ranges. Once you get more funds buy a rifle scope to compliment your 14. Then comes thermal and it gets ugly after that... |

It would work out to 150yds, but is really suited to being up-close more than at a distance. You can use a reflex sight that is NV compatible with a PVS-14 and 3x adapter and that would probably be OK out to about 150. You may find that a workable stop-gap measure with a suitable PVS-14.
