Oh My... A few inaccuracies there, but it's nice to see things like the COTI going mainstream.

She wrote some strange comments eg,

"The COTI used as a stand-alone handheld gadget could be incredibly helpful to the U.S. Coast Guard as well as local, state and federal law enforcement for search and rescue."

A Stand Alone COTI ? What a great idea... I wonder what that's going to be called... Oh yeah, A Thermal Imager.

Anyway, I shouldn't criticize someone behind their back and there were a lot of other mistakes in there, so I sent her a nice two-page email detailing them.

And it would have been nice if they used a COTI image for the picture, but I guess green on black doesn't look that nice.

I played with the COTI at Shot. Admittedly, it was only for a couple moments at best so take that into account. It was neat but to me appeared to be kind of unfinished and more like a prototype.

I just wasn't real impressed. Yeah, it was cool but kind of clunky and not real user friendly was my take. Like I said, my exposure to it was brief so maybe with more time it works great. I was just left thinking I would rather have a stand alone unit for the cost. If you are going to incorporate the two
(NV and thermal) I think it needs to be done at inception rather than a clip on afterthought.

Here's a few video's that might give a good idea of how these units work.
