I have a Rock River M4. I have mounted on the flat top receiver a Bushnell 1X32 T dot optic. I want to put a night vision optic in front of it, I think thats how I would do it, on the hand guard??? I dont want a NV scope but thinking more like a NV monocular. I'm looking for an inexpensive one to mount to the rail on the hand guard but cant seem to find one. Any help or comments would be accepted. I just want to have it there to shoot varmits and jack rabbits without using a spot light. I have used night vision before so I know how things can get distorted with cheaper and older generation night vision. I just want it on there for fun.

Without going dedicated you have 2 options. You can get a clip-on night sight like a AN/PVS-22. They go in front of the day scope and work through the entire range of magnification. It allows you to use any day optic without rezeroing and it is boresighted for minimal POA/POI shift.
The other option is a monocular like a PVS-14 behind your optic provided it has NV settings so it won't damage the tube. Putting it in front of the optic will cause large and non-repeatable POI shift. You can use an IR laser with the monocular very effectively. A good clip-on will run you under $10k. A good monocular will cost you under $4k. Check the NV forum in the armory section for more information. There is lots more than the limited amount I've posted above. |
